What You Should Know About Mould

The presence of mould can be found indoors and outdoors. The problem with mould begins when the level of mould inside is greater than the levels of mould outdoors.

The most common form of mould associated with water damage is Aspergillus/Penicullium. This mould can grow on materials, such as fiberboard, gypsum board, paper, dust, and lint. Mould growing in homes and buildings, whether “black” mould or other moulds, indicates there is a problem with moisture or water.

Growth occurs when there is moisture from water damage, excessive humidity, water leaks, condensation, water infiltration, or flooding. Constant moisture is required for its growth, causing mould to start growing in less than 48 hours of moisture or exposure. Evidence of growth can usually be seen (discoloration) or smelled (damp, musty odor).

If you see or suspect mould growth, contact Green Rhino Restorations. It is important to properly clean and dry the suspicious areas, as well as obtaining a proper protocol to handle a mould situation. Green Rhino is a professional company with decades of combined experience in residential and commercial mould remediation.

What to Expect from Green Rhino Mould Remediation Services

When you call Green Rhino Restorations to assess your mould situation, a certified technician will be dispatched to inspect your property.
At the time of your property inspection, Green Rhino will determine the degree of contamination. Depending on the degree, Green Rhino may recommend a microbiological testing of the area to determine the severity of the mould situation and plan the best course of action. Once a protocol is put into place, Green Rhino will coordinate the necessary repairs, water extraction, structural drying, removal, disposal, and remediation of the mould and the affected areas or property.
In the event of large-scale mould growth issues, Green Rhino may recommend that a property owner obtain an Indoor Quality (IAQ) test before work is started- for the health and safety of the residents. This report, among other things, identifies the areas of concern, potential causes or sources of the mould, and provides a roadmap to complete a professional mould remediation and cleanup of the areas.
